Jim 'Bubba' Danvers



I'm a married 40+ year old guy who lives in Berkshire, N.Y.  My wife, Roxanne, and I have two son's (technically they are her boys as I'm not thier biological father... but I did more or less raise 'em both since one was 7 and the other 3... )  I work for a local employer in the Binghamton area (Upstate NY, USA) and am the network administrator of the particular site that I work at.  Our parent company owns lots of sites and there are actually a handful of us pc geeks who manage the data networks at the various locations.  The bread & butter of my employment is in a windows environment, but I'm a linux fan / geek / hacker-wanna-be at heart.

I'm a welder by trade and training.  I learned to weld while in high school, worked in a production shop for a few years further learning the trade and obtaining a few certifications along the way.   (milspecs for government work that we were doing - T.I.G. welding non-ferrous stuff - most aluminum sheet metal - but also some occasional odd ball stuff like titanium, copper, magnesium, etc... )

I'm a long time bicycle riding / sport-racing enthusiast.  I have been riding bkes since I was but a wee lad and have been racing them in one form or another for, well (aiy!), nearly 30 years now.  BMX, cruisers (a larger form of BMX), road racing, mountain biking, etc...   Road cycling is what I've mostly been doing over the last 15-20 years.
